N82: Looks that won’t WOW you

May 11th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Mobile Brands, Nokia, nseries

With its Candy Bar design..the Nokia N82 looks like just an ordinary phone.

But its beauty lies deep inside… It’s not the physical aspects that will make you WOW with the N82.. but what it can do.

But like any other phone I review, I always start from the outside – the looks of the phone.

Click the images to enlarge

  • The 2.4 screen is great. Actually it looks bigger than 2.4 with the black edition.
  • The send and end keys are on the both sides of the phone.. at the edge of the phone. I don’t know why they put it there. The call and end buttons can be small and not be like that. Oh well..
  • Also, I think and feel the 5 way scroll key will be the first part to be broken. I wish they built it like the nav key of the 6233.. which looks more durable.. and is durable.. been using my nokia 6233 for more than 2 years now…
  • The 3.5 mm jack is located on the top of the phone. No problem with that for me… I think its better positioned than the N77 and N95.
  • The numeric keypad is soooo small and close to the bottom. I had a hard time using it at first.. but for sure i’ll get the hang of it. It’s soft to use.

First the sides:

  • The 2 stereo speakers are both on the right side of the phone. That’s because when you use the N82 to view videos, you tilt the phone for a full screen view. So the speakers will now be positioned on the top.
  • The volume /zoom keys are positioned the same with most Nseries devices.
  • There’s a review key that acts as a shortcut to your multimedia files.
  • The camera key… same position for most Nseries gadgets.
  • On to your left.. you’ll see the Mini USB connector.
  • Battery Charger slot
  • MicroSD Slot
One thing about these USB connectors… I have 3 mobile gadgets with me now.. The Nokia 6233, Nokia N800, and Nokia N82. Each of these mobile devices have different USB cables which uses different USB connectors. I’ll tell you more about this on one of my future posts.

The Back:

  • Camera activation switch and lens cover
  • The great and bright XENON FLASH
  • Camera Lens – 5 mega pixel, carl zeiss optics with Tessar lens – WOW!
I blog corrected…at least there’s one thing that will WOW you with the looks of the N82 – the Camera!

    Hi,

Nice review of the “outside”. However, the picture says “MicroUSB connector”, and your text says MiniUSB connector for data cable. Can you please clarify? The port itself looks like a MiniUSB connector.

    Rohan.

    Hi Rohan,

From my understanding, its MICRO USB because its the smallest among all usb outlets/connectors
