Currently there are 5 types of Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports.
From left to right:
- micro USB plug
- mini USB plug
- B-type plug
- A-type receptacle
- A-type plug
I’ve had the chance to use them all. Those that have A-Type plugs are: the USB Fan, the USB led light, USB Mouse, and then i also have my 2 USB flash disks.
I also have the A-Type receptacle or commonly known as FEMALE USB for extension USB wires.
Then I have used the B-type plug for MP4 players and some PMPs.
I’ve used the Mini USB for the N800 Internet tablet. Meanwhile, the i’ve used the Micro USB for my mobile phones the N82 and currently under review N78.
Is it cool? actually its not. The more types of USBs the more connectors/wires and adapters I need to have.
Like i always bring with me 3 wires for the Nokia 6233, the Nokia N82 and the Nokia N800. Then i also need an extension USB wire in case i need one. I also bring adapters in case i need them.
Good thing there are all in one adapters nowadays. Like this one..
the hexagon shaped multi USB adapter. Only P100.00 at CDR king. I’ve used it to plug a flexible-portable keyboard onto the Nokia N800

Hi Migs – that hexagon adapter looks pretty handy, albeit ugly. I may have to pick one of those up.
