The N800 with flexible keyboard
The Internet Tablet School posted an article about using a regular keyboard on the N800/N810.
So i bought a new keyboard.. not just an ordinary keyboard.. its a Flexible-portable USB keyboard. There’s an Infra Red keyboard, but its too expensive.. i’ll settle with this one for now.
Then i also bought a USB adaptor (check it here) where one end is a Mini USB plug and the other end is a Female. I’ve been looking around for weeks going to CDR king branches and computer shops then finally, i was able to buy one from CDR King Robinson’s Metro East branch.
Ok, so now, here’s all the gadgets that we need.
You will also need a program on your Internet tablet called Free USB Control. You can get one from Maemo.org. Take note that this will only run of OS2008.
Step 1: Run USB Control. Click HOST.
Step 2: Plug your devices. First Plug the USB adaptor, then connect the keyboard
Some errors will appear - like unable to connect or no file system available - just ignore it. =p
Then open a notepad program or any program where you can test if the keyboard is working.
That’s it! You can now use a keyboard with your Internet Tablet!
So why go through this hassle? Well, the N800 and the flexible keyboard is lighter and easier to carry around that my 3kg laptop! And it will be easier for me to blog if i use a full keyboard rather than tapping the letters in the internet tablet.
I hope i can find a program to enable a normal/flexible keyboard to used in my N82. Now that’s better!
