My take on the mobile world…

Home » Information Technology » PLDT launches TalkPad

PLDT just made available a new service called PLDT TalkPad.

It allows you to call landlines, mobile phones and other myPad Messenger on PCs, and send text messages using your internet-powered PC at surprisingly low rates.

According to their website, you can use TalkPad to call any landline phone from anywhere in the world for “as low as” P1.00. Thats one peso (what country would that be?). And of course, talkpad to talkpad talk and chat are free.

As low as 14 US cents per minute for calls to the Philippines. First 1000 subscribers can Enjoy 50% Bonus credits with every reload.

Here’s more:

With PLDT Talkpad, you can contact anyone, anytime even when they are not online, unlike with Skype, Yahoo and other VoIP services.

You have to buy credits to make it work. Available in $5, $10, and $20 denominations. If you’d buy a Vanity number, that would have an “Additional cost of P5000 ($120.48)” WHAT!

The figures here are in dollars.. and according to them it is Computed at US $1 = P41.50. May change depending on the average monthly FOREX.

I saw their rates and for those pinoys abroad, this is really a good offer.

More here.

Globe has quite a similar service called G-Web Call.

On my case I have tried their $5 for P207.50 pesos value call and what do I get? P8.30 for every minute?? Dapat standard kung P5.81, P5.81 hindi P5.81 tapos ang rate pag nag try ka P8.30 dahil $5 dollars lang ang purchase mo. I know its on their rates page. (Eto Opinion 1 ko.)

Dapat i-charge lang nila per minute is local rate sa pilipinas per minute dahil ang tinatawagan nating number (PLDT Number)

meaning if I call using PLDT Talkpad virtual number to call -> PLDT local Line, eh dapat normal local call lang dahil parehas ating number lang din naman ang tinatawagan and the objective is they must give Virtual PLDT Number na Philippine number and we will use this Virtual number to call PLDT lines. (Eto Opinion 2 ko).

Ito ay opinion ko lamang.. I am a VoIP user overseas and PLDT Talkpad rates for $0.14 is not much of a savings. My rating is 4/10 *****

  4. It becomes clear that there is a lot to know about this. I believe you have made a lot of smart points in your article.
