Even with 3G – iPhone 2.0 still incomplete

June 12th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Apple, Mobile Brands

There’s a nice discussion over at PhilMug regarding the new 3G iPhone.

Even now that the famous iPhone has been equipped with 3G functionality, it lacks some basic features such as:

  • MMS
  • SMS forwarding
  • SMS vCard and vCal support (Business Card)
  • Video recording
  • Bluetooth File Exchange
  • A higher resolution camera of at least 3 megapizels and a flash would also be a great inclusion.

Some say that this features maybe addressed by third party programs/applications as add-on to the iPhone (except for the camera) which some forumer thinks was the real intention, to have them available in the Apple Store.

While one user suggested that iPhone makers disregarded the more techie stuff to make it more affordable and thus increasing its sales potential, one forumer disagrees.  According to elbert:

The fact is, to Americans, SMS is not a universal means to communicate. That’s why Blackberry is king over there. That’s why Apple went with push email as well. And that’s why I suspect the exclusion of basic SMS features that we’ve all gotten used to.

But there’s one item that’s giving a smile to everyone, well aside from the 3G functionality of course, its the SIM ejector tool which should look better than this:

Even with the lacking features, a lot of users are now awaiting the arrival of the iPhone here in the Philippines!

Will you get one?
