Acer Aspire One

Posted by migs Categories: Laptop, Mobile Brands, UMPC

There’s already an Acer Aspire one here in Davao City.

Available in two colors… balck and white.

It sells for P19,300.

Specs after the break.

* 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display
* 1.6GHz Atom N270
* 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to 1GB)
* 1.3 megapixel camera, SDHC and multi-format media readers
* 802.11b/g, Ethernet, three USB 2.0, VGA, and 3.5mm audio out
* One free mini PCI slot for WWAN
* 80GB hard drive (with XP) or 8GB solid state (with Linux)
* 2.5 to 5 hours between the 3 and 6-cell batteries in XP model, 3 or 7 hours on Linux
* 1kg (2.2 pounds)

The price is a bit higher compared to the regular selling price of P18,000.

    ACER is so low-tech. It’s better to get a 6 cell MSI Wind in Black. Go MSI!

    Hey Migs, I’ve played around with the Acer Aspire One and it seems good. I think that the keyboard is a bit too small, though, especially now that I have gotten my MSI WInd. The latter is so much better although the price is higher. More so, the Aspire One is only available in SSD right now, the 80G option is not yet out although this guy in Acer told me that they will be getting it out (indefinite time frame) in the market. I agree with Famous Amos, the Wind is so much better. (Yup, I am biased – take a look at my “Koryu” and you’ll see why. http://www.dreamwalkersworld.com/2008/07/pink-no-more.html)

    I guess it depends on what you plan on doing with the subnotebook. If you want to run XP and have a decent HDD then it’s really MSI that I would suggest. If you’re fine with Linux and the 8G SSD then Acer would be good – the blue one is really pretty. The current Acer models do not support Windows as of yet. The MSI is really worth it, I haven’t had any problems with heat,crashes, and slowdowns.
