I had to manually remove PCSuite and all its associated components (about 3 of them) from the Add/Remove Programs applet in the control panel of Windows. I noticed that this "modem loss" happened when I updated to PCSuite v7.0 and NSU 1.4.56(?). I reverted back to the older version I was using, v6.85, (after removing all associated PCSuite components) and it fixed the problem. =) I experienced the same on my Nokia 6233 before.
