The 4th 3G operator in the Philippines, Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprise, Inc. (CURE), a once independent company but was bought by SMART, has rebranded their flagship project – uMobile – to Red Mobile.
I have two theories for the rebranding: because uMobile did not meet its objectives. It was aiming to find companies who was willing to enter into a new form of advertising – mobile ads. It seems not a lot of companies wanted this.
OR…
Maybe SMART used the 3G band of uMobile to strengthen SMART BRO plug-it.
Before, i was happy that umobile was constantly giving updates to its users. But the last update i got from umobile -via email – was back in July… 4 months ago. From time to time i’ve checked their website… mostly to chek on my current load. But aside from that, there were no updates.
I was able to give out more that 30 umobile invites. Then back in October, umobile stopped giving them.
Now that they will be called RED MOBILE, what can we, as users, expect? Will they still give free 100.00 load? I hope so. One thing is sure though… they will change the color of their site from purple/violet (i’m not good in colors) to RED.
I’ll just wait for the call of RED Mobile on my uMobile sim… (u,,, where did i put my umobile sim?)
I also hope Red Mobile will be launched here in the South (Davao – MIndanao) like what they did for umobile which had several parties in Manila and one in Cebu.
