I think for mobile phones, Dual Sim phones will be a big hit this year. Even if its already a given fact that we are facing another “great depression”.
I’ve blogged about some mobile phones that will be launched this year. Majority of Which are Dual Sim mobile phones. Imagine, having two phones in one!
Just recently, Samsung released its latest Dual Sim phone. The Samsung D980 DuoS.

I’ve been reading articles and reviews about this phone and here is a summary…
Just like my Verzio Duplii, the Samsung D980 is now dual standby.
The Samsung D980 has a 5 mega pixel cam (QVGA) – but the captured images are not that good compared to other 5 megapixel phones. It also has Autofocus and Flash (LED).
- But that’s ok.. anything close to 5 megapixel for a dual cam is ok
Its quite heavy at 41oz. / 120g.
- Maybe because of additional chips and stuff inside for a better dual sim experience.
Touch Screen
- WHOAH! Nice one
No WI-FI and No 3G – up to EDGE only.
- Crap! Why did samsung forgot to include this? Oh.. maybe they’ll put 3G on their next DUOS unit. grrrrr!
- No 3G.. That explains why it doesn’t have a secondary cam…
Others:
> Has A2DP support, Can use MicroSD up to 2GB, Has FM Radio, Document viewer
> Problems:
- One user reported a Lag in accessing the features and applications on the phone. But i’m sure a firmware update will solve this.
- No % sign on the calculator
- You can’t turn off the sound when tapping a number on the screen. Something like Keypad sound.

Having 3G and/or WiFi, would have made this baby a killer!
