I saw a post over at Yuga Tech saying that Globe will be rolling out a new website called PIXLINK with its partner PixSense. (Don’t be confused, there’s also a PixeLink and PixLink)

PIXLINK allows you to backup, share and publish photos and videos from your mobile phone, all with a single click. Just snap a photo or capture a video, and PIXLINK will handle all the rest. Once captured, PIXLINK categorizes your media automatically according to date of capture, and makes uploading to your secure online account, sharing with your contacts and publishing to your favorite websites as easy as pie
So i tried it out.
So its a service that lets you share your media contents from your mobile phone to the internet either through an application that you install on your phone or via your PC.

You will also be able to view the media files shared by your friends.
But before you see that nice screen above.. you’ll have to register first for the service. So here are the details
To use PIXLINK
- You Need to be a Globe Prepaid or Postpaid subscriber.
- Have a supported mobile phone. If you don’t have a supported phone, you can still use the PIXLINK website to upload and share media with your friends and family.
Registering for PIXLINK is easy.
Just visit www.pixlink.com.ph follow the instructions as mentioned. You can also register from your mobile phone by sending PIXLINK to 2988 to obtain a link to the WAP registration page.

I registered via web. You’ll need to verify your mobile number and your email. I received my verification code on my mobile phone. (note: If you don’t verify your mobile number within 24 hours of registration, your account will be deleted.) You really need to be a Globe user because by opening the link to the verification code, it also verifies that you are a Globe userby using the Globe internet conection. I tried using WIFI, but got an error message.
Oh, whenever PixLink is running on your mobile phone and you have a new picture or video, something will pop up asking you whether

If you don’t want it to keep popping up, choose NO, NEVER UPLOAD.
PixLink is similar to Nokia’s Ovi. The difference is that basic features of Ovi is free to use – such as sharing pics and vids, But you’ll have to pay for the connection charges (from Phone to Web). Good if you are using wifi.
With PixLink, they will be offering a “time based” subscription package. But it willbe free to use until March 5. So instead of paying P5.00 per 15 minutes, you’ll be charged with a one time rate:
There are three (3) subscription offers available:
P30 for 1 day
P60 for 2 days
P120 for 5 days
Please note that, if you do not choose to purchase the service, you can still continue to use your online web account for 45 days from the day of registration, after which you will be prompted to subscribe in order to continue using the service. During this time, you can subscribe by going to My Account > Subscribe
After 45 days, your account and stored media will be deleted.
Read the highlighted part…OUCH! I don’t think that would encourage users to use the service!
But if you don’t want to pay for such service.. you can always use Flickr mobile.

It’s interesting! but I don’t know how to use this service. Please introduce the detail about the way to upload, share photo?
