Nokia announced during the Mobile World Congress two new E-series phones optimized for efficiency and productivity… the E75 and E55.

Both phones have Nokia’s latest in user email interface. “Both devices also come standard with Nokia Messaging that, when added to the company’s corporate email clients, gives people the most efficient solution for accessing the world’s consumer and corporate email on the go.”

“The enhanced email UI includes folder and HTML email support, expandable views and sorting capability by date, sender and size, as well as the most commonly used email functions just a single click away.  On top of email, the devices also offer improved calendar capability, as well as contacts and task management. ”

Let’s take a look at some of their similarities and differences.

Both the E75 and E55 are S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 running Symbian OS v9.3.  The E55 is lighter 95g compared to 139g of the E75. Both are running on a single processor but the E55 wins this category having 600 MHz versus the 369 MHz of the E75. Wow.. nice one for the E55.

Both have the same main camera (3.2 Megapixel), and video (640 x 480) resolution. And both has a secondary camera for video calls! The  E75 has a playback of 30 fps while the E55 on 15fps.

The E75 has a maximum user storage of 50MB while the E55 has 100MB. Hmmm.. i wonder why their not the same here. :P Good thing both phones can handle up to 16GB of microSD external memory.

Both phones supports Wi-Fi with the E55 being able to use HSUPA (faster downloads).

One big difference among others is how these two phones handle power. The E75 will only last 5 hours while the E55 will last up to 8 hours. Plus, the E75 can be charged two ways, first using the standard 2.0mm Charger Connector and also by USB charging. But the E55 will also be able to charge using the USB.

Who wins? Well it depends.. The other is a slider phone that brings out the QWERTY mat, the other, the usual E-series phone but faster and lighter.

Oh the price..

The Nokia E75 is expected to ship in March at an estimated retail price of 375 EUR, before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia E55 is expected to ship in the second quarter at an estimated retail price will be 265 EUR, before taxes and subsidies.

Reminds me of the E71 and E63. :P

will the e55 be available in the philippines? Nokia says they “are not liberty to say”. Is there a big price between the e55 and the e52?

HOW CAN I GET AN E55?!? HELP!!!!

  2. migs says:

Yes, the e55 will be available in the Philippines. As to when, only nokia can answer that.

Price will be less than 20k. :D

cry… I wonder how much longer I should wait. Do you advise that I just get an e52? the specs are the same but I like the novelty of the e55′s keypad.

I originally wanted the 5800… but it’s bulky and the e55 has a doc EDITOR not just a viewer right? plus it looks more professional and has a faster processor. The 5800 is a good deal for its price now though, around 14k.

    What do you think?

Although i don’t like querty keypads, I like the e55 better. It also has a bigger display than the e52.

    e55 vs 5800.. ummmm.. e55 still..

But i suggest you wait a little more. Coz more nokia phones are about to go out of the closet. I’m sure you’ll like them.

arg! There’s always something better in the closet… Will give myself till the end of this year for the e55. I’ve asked friends of friends to scout around in other countries, Im hoping they can just ship it in. It’d be a waste though, if it gets released here at a cheaper price.

I hate having to be patient, but thanks, you’ve been a great help.
