I got an inquiry from a reader: What mobile frequencies are available in the Philippines?

If you are a tourist or you are buying a phone abroad and planning to use it here in the Philippines, you will need a at least a GSM phone which is able to run at least a 900mhz frequency (GSM 900). But most phones nowadays can handle 2 frequencies (2G) or what is often termed as “Dual Band”. Just make sure you get the mobile phone that can be used for 900mhz and 1800mhz frequencies.
Why do you need to be specific about the frequencies? Well, in North America for example, they use 850MHz and 1900MHz frequency bands. So those phones won’t run here in the Philippines.
How about if you want to use 3G? Well, you will then need a Tri-Band phone or that which can run the two frequencies I enumerated above as well as UMTS 2100.
But if you want to be sure if you will be able to use your phone in any GSM country, then get a Quadband phone 800, 900, 1800 and 1900.
There are different frequencies for different levels of usage. Each one having their own limit and disadvantages.

2G and 3G refer to network throughput, and relates to internet bandwidth. It has nothing to do with the frequency.
I think that is right bout that. Nice info and thanks. Need to get in google feed.
Your post was without a doubt an enjoyable read & I like to see quality blog posts floating around the net considering alot of it is copied. I understand that when it comes to material it’s for all purposes King in the case of making a website ranked and what not (most likely the reason I discovered this). I’ve done some sites back when and am focusing on an internet micro gigs marketplace type thing made for people to visit and buy and sell services to eachother. So I have to focus on getting some blog posts and what not on the web site and what not. Anyway take it easy and keep handing out quality articles.
