SMART offers “ultimate unlimited” calling
Smart Communications will start offering today their unlimited calling promo called SmarTalk. All SMART Buddy (prepaid) and SMART Gold (postpaid) subscribers will be able to enjoy 24 hours of non-stop calling (to those within the smart network only).
This is our way of helping out our subscribers in these difficult times and is our response to the government’s call for more affordable telecommunications services – Orlando B. Vea, Chief Wireless Advisor of SMART
So how do you use this unlimited call promo?
SMART subscribers will be able to avail of the service by purchasing loads for unlimited calls
- The first is Smartalk 100 which offers 5 days of unlimited calls to any subscriber on the SMART network anywhere in the country, at any time of the day – for only P100
- Then there’s Smartalk 500 which offers 30 days of unlimited calls to any subscriber on the SMART network for only P500.
How to subscribe:
- Prepaid users needs to load or have existing load of P101.00 or P501.00 depending on which one you would like to avail. However, postpaid subscribers will be charged on top of their monthly bill (or monthly service fee).
- Or, Postpaid and prepaid users can buy a Smartalk card at local retailers.
Then…
Send Talk100 or Talk500 to 6400.
How to make unlimited calls
When making a call using the Smartalk unlimited package, SMART Buddy subscribers just need to dial *6400 plus the 11-digit subscriber number being called, eg., *640009181234567.
Smart did not specify if the same procedure will be done for postpaid users.
This promo is valid until September 30, 2009.

This is good news to all mobile phone users using the SMART network. Being able to call anytime you want as long as you want is a great relief to the consumers.
It is also timely that Smart launched this promo now that the telecom companies are under fire at the Philippine Senate for abuse (like over pricing of some sort).
SUN Cellular has been doing this type of service for years now and the problem with this is that the quality of the service suffers. Network congestion is imminent. I hope Smart can ensure that the there will be no delays in sending and receiving messages and no cut calls.
But wait, who will benefit from this promo? I think businesses and individuals who constantly needs to talk to their clients or customers. Normal or regular mobile phone users would mostly subscribe to the Smartalk 100 service for 5 days of unlimited calling but i’m sure that its not like unlimited texting where they will subscribe again and at once after the srvice expires.
What will be the answer of other Telcos with this new unlimited call promo from Smart?

I’ve been using Sun for about 6 months now. The service is excellent, although I would imagine that when you get outside major metro areas it is probably not as good. But, as far as the quality of the calls on the network, it is just as good as Smart or Globe. It is very rare that I cannot get through because the network is busy. This was a problem a few years ago, but I don’t experience that now.
Nice thing on Sun is that you can call or text for P450/mo. From what you say here, it would seem that you still have to pay extra for texting on Smart?
June 26th, 2009 at 8:42 am
That’s right Bob. And unlike SUN where they really do have unlimited call plans, globe and smart can only give promos.
Thanks for the info that SUN has improved their service, at least in Davao City.
June 26th, 2009 at 8:56 am
I have always been a Smart loyal user and this is really great news! Sun has still to improve their service here in Iloilo. And Sun has still to convert me and my friends. But for now, we’re really happy about this promo! WoooT!
June 26th, 2009 at 9:28 am
sana may cheaper plans than 100 for 5 days. like in my case, i would only need it for 1 day. kahit premium rate like up to 35, i’d pay pa rin for a 1 day unlimited.
don’t they have the 11pm-6am unlimited promo too ? was that smart nga ba ?
June 26th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
mary Jane! Thanks for dropping by!
Koya Jay! Honga eh… buti sana kung unlimited texting all day yan no? kahit yung 1 month kukunin talaga ng mga tao!
Pero koya you need it din diba? madami kang clients!

June 30th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
It’s a great improvement actually. But I left Smart 4 years ago and have sticked to Globe. Now I’m using Sun. Calls are not of excellent quality but they’re okay and most of all, affordable for a student like me. But this new offer from Smart anyways is one big good move for the telecom industry in our country.

July 9th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
It’s really nice that they already have this promo. So immediately, after hearing it. I load up 100 and register on my phone. And sad to say, I wasted up the 24 hours UnliCall. Darn, it’s always NETWORK BUSY! I’m really disappointed. That’s why i called their representative, but still, it’s the same.. I’m from Metro Manila and signal is stable.. I will never register here.. As in.. I might change to Globe
July 9th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
When i heard of this promo i bought a smart sim and tried to register. It took 24 hours before i got confirmation for Talk100. I tried to call and it says network busy, the smart customer service did nothing. For the biggest network in the country you’d think Smart would do something about their call capacity before they launch a promo like this. Ridiculous…

SMARTALK 100
Advantage
1. Unli Call
2. Sometimes you can talk for 30 mins before getting drop
3. Signal is good
Disadvantage
No Unli Text
SUN
Advantage
(Prepaid)
1. Unli call and Text (1month/1week/5days)
2. From 12:00am – 5:00pm, you can call easily and you can talk for more than 1 hour before getting drop (i got more than 2hours before getting drop)
(Postpaid)
1. Unli call and text
2. From 12:00am – 11:59pm, you can call easily
Disadvantage
(Prepaid)
1. Some areas have weak signal but it’s improving
2. From 5:00pm to 12:00am, you can talk only for 15 mins then you get dropped and you have to wait for 30mins – 1hour before you can call again.
(Postpaid)
1. You have to pay 350 monthly but it’s better than the prepaid 450.
2. Some areas have weak signal but it’s improving
July 10th, 2009 at 2:36 am
SMARTALK 100
Disadvantage
1. No Unli Text
2. Registration will take you a whole day
3. Sometimes you can’t call because of network busy

Dont ever avail of the SMART Unlimited call promo.
You will just waste your money.
You will pay 500 pesos for a month of limited use of a supposedly unlimited call.
The network will just fool you around like Sun Cellular.
When you register in their unlimited call … for prepaid, you would input *6400 before the smart number … if you use this feature, it will be very difficult to have a connection. It would say that the network is busy or it would just not connect. You could try for 5 times or more but it would not just connect. If you don’t use the *6400 and just dial directly the smart number, it will connect more easily but you will be charged by the minute again instead of the unlimited smart to smart calls.
It is not smart to use the smart unlimited call. It is such a waste of money.
This should also be investigated by the Senate. A lot of people will be fooled and waste their money if they would discover the poor service once already enrolled and paid for the service.
A lot of people could have availed of the service making their network congested. But why offer the promo when the network could not handle a bulk of consumers?
If they offered the promo to the public, only a limited number of consumers should have been allowed to avail the promo that could not compromise their service.
A one day availment of the promo should have been offered to see if the service is ok so that once they know that the service is not good, they will not continue availing the product. It is a waste of money availing a 5 day promo and paying it only to discover during the first day that the service is not good and could not refund what you have paid for the next few days that was not yet used. Worse for those who availed and registered for the 30 days and paid 500 pesos already.

hi,
i recently activated my SMART TALK and loaded 500. I can say is that yeah, the service is not yet perfect yet, i got network busy during peak hours. Before, i even get crossed lines but you can notice that they are improving. I didnt exprience it since then when they completely shut down the service for 30 mins. They see business on this.

@heavenscent- did you know that the Consumer group Consumer Complaints Center, Inc. has filed a complaint with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) against Smart Communications, Inc.’s promo “Smartalk,” calling it “deceptive” and “confusing.” Consumer Complaints Center President Vicente F. Gambito said his group has been receiving complaints about smartalk on the supposed poor service of the unlimited voice call promo smartalk. Mr. Gambito claimed the service bogged down during the first two weeks of implementation of smartalk, and that the *6400 service was unavailable for reasons such as the “phone was unattended” or “phone is outside of the coverage area”, but a connection could be made to an non Smartalk number using a regular call without the use of the prefix *6400 of smartalk. Also, attempts to subscribe to Smartalk during the period only resulted in receiving delayed messages saying the promo was unavailable at the time the registration was made.
no wonder for smart!laging palpak!

um, in my case the line is good. i’m registered in a 3-month long UNLI CALL service because the postpaid subscribers who availed via registration will automatically be renewed every month for 90-days.
POST PAID ADV.
*there’s no need to add *6400 before the 11-digit mobile number
*line is good

I’ve been with Smart for almost 8 years and 2 years with SUN but all i can say is, don’t try the smart unli call. Thier service is not good. If you want unli call and text go for the SUN. They have a great service than any network.
Best pa rin and SUN sa lahat although i still have my smart.

To all concerned pinoys,
Smart Talk is FRAUD!
WHY? They said its unlimited but yet IT IS NOT!
Smart Talk cuts every 8 minutes while Smart Talk Plus cuts every 10 minutes (10pm – 5pm).
NOT ONLY THAT! BEWARE! Smart will BAN your SIM card if you called more that 75 different smart or Talk ‘N Text number on the days of availing this promo.
Try it for your self and you’ll see!
February 3rd, 2010 at 12:52 pm

Follow up for SMART TALK 100 & PLUS 100:
Now this promos cuts every 5 minutes. Parang Payphone na! hehe.
I’m always unto this promo ever since it was started last June 2009. Now it’s been extended til April 2010. SMART pushed me to switch to a different provider after I found out about this.
I wonder how many Million customers ANG GINAGAGO NILA!
Well, Di na nila ako mauuto BECAUSE TINAPON KO NA SMART SIMS KO SA BASURAHAN!
For the sake of their subscribers except me
, NTC shud really do something about this NOT ON PER PULSE CHARGING NA WALANG KWENTA.
SUN Unlimited stays on top! Bravo!!! line will cut on 60 minutes so far so good!
GLOBE SUPERUNLI and TM ASTIGUNLI also rocks! line cuts every 30 minutes.
SMART PLUS 100 and SMART TALK 100 is SUCKS! So hard to connect and line cuts every 5 minutes. Very Worst!

I wish SUN would soon put their cellsite here in Northern Palawan, specifically El Nido.

March 25th, 2010 at 9:16 pm
FUCK YOU!!! FUCK YOU!!! FUCK YOU!!! FUCK YOU SMART!!! you’re lucky that my friends and family mostly use smart. but what you’re doing is primarily squeezing every peso that you subscribers have. Why is that everyday this is what happens. at exactly 5pm to 10pm I can’t make any call. It would be understandable if it was around 5pm and I can make a call at least 2-3 times in that 5 hour gap. very suspicious if you ask me. And what you put in the about us in your fucking not much of a help website about the top people of your company… the only reason they got so stinking rich is because they know how to take advantage of the masses.
FOrgive my potty mouth… I’m just irritated. think about it though. If you’re in Cebu, why is it so God Damn Difficult or nearly impossible to make a call at exactly 5:00pm until 10:00pm exactly. C’mon, doesn’t that strike you the least bit suspicious. I’ve been observing this ever since mid February. Even at peak hours, Even sun cellular can make calls, and Just why the hell Smart can’t even do this? C’mon? ALL THE TOP PEOPLE IN SMART ARE A BUNCH OF FUCKTARDS THAT SQUEEZE EVERY BIT OF PESO THEY CAN OUT OF THEIR LOYAL SUBSCRIBERS?
March 25th, 2010 at 11:41 pm
just to make things clear… when I mean top people of smart I mean the ones handling the company
