Two of ABS-CBN’s companies have teamed up to give a first to its Kapamilyas. ABS-CBN Interactive and Star Cinema will be showing the movie “And I Love You So” starring Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay online for FREE.
In its efforts to share the story of Lara (played by Bea Alonzo) with more Filipinos globally, anyone from anywhere across the globe can now watch the full movie by simply logging on to Starcinema.com.ph.
As i was writing this post, I was trying to find an answer as to why ABS-CBN is doing this… showing the movie for free and online.
First thing in my mind was profits. How will the movie earn this way. There seems to be no ads on the website of Star Cinema. Next was piracy. If you show this movie online, it will be easier for bad guys to record the movie or download it using download tools.
Also, people go to movie houses for a different experience – theater like experience – the sound, the big screen.
But, its good news for anyone who has access to the internet. Imagine, having a legitimate online streaming of a movie. Not pirated - low quality – as most of us have been watching. Plus, it might be able to encourage people to really watch the movie in theaters. It will also introduce people to star cinema’s website where eventually, people can watch movies on demand.
