Migs on Politics

With high hopes, the coming 2010 presidential elections will be automated. And along with this… presidential aspirants and even political parties have created their own web sites, blogs and even invaded social networking sites. Most of which are venues used to try to sell the candidate to the voters.  Making available to the public their accomplishments and plans for the furture.

But there are sites where people can really know more about the candidates in a fair and equal environment and also interact with other people to discuss political issues. Like this new site called Political Arena.

PoliticalArena.com is the Philippines’ first socio-political networking site, developed to promote awareness and interactivity in the local political scene and its territories. It is a common platform for all candidates to disseminate information to all voters, real time. It is a one-stop shop to access all candidates in one arena and make informed decisions.

PoliticalArena.com is a platform where candidates can share about themselves as leaders and public servants—their programs and activities, causes, views, and opinions on issues—and establish a relationship with supporters to further their political crusade.

Interaction is one of the key element when trying to reach your potential supporter and get the needed votes.  Good thing the site has a political forum where this can take place.  Possible candidates and their supporters should be quick to respond to questions,  issues, and suggestions that will be placed. I asked in the forum about everyone’s say on Vigilante groups providing Justice instead of our courts.

The site also has a poll that lists down some of the issues and people can vote on which issue is the most important when choosing a candidate. The most important issue last July was Education and Labor and Employment. Last month was education. This month, i voted for Justice. For me,  justice is  the most important issue today. And a candidate that will put justice as the top reform in his campaign is a winner for me.

I also like the part of the site called ISSUES where they have a certain issue that each candidate will answer a certain topic. Like topics on education, Poverty,  insurgency, labor and employment, etc.

Another good thing about polictical arena site is that it has a dedicated  page for every candidate. Where you will be able to view more information and help you decide if to support the candidate or not. You will also see on their page the latest news about the candidate, which i find great! You don’t need to do your own search.. the information is already right in one page!

I have two suggestion though… The announcements box should be placed somewhere… where can be easily seen. Next is the member’s standing. The site is about the candidates and not the registered members. So i think showing people which member is actively participating, how many photos and videos have been uploaded should not be part of the picture… the front page at least. Maybe they could put this on the forums section.

It is also important to know who are the people behind this website as there are others that have sprung up claiming to be a “forum for the people” but seems otherwise.. just wanting to get your personal and contact details so that they could bombard you with nonsense. Good thing PoliticalArena.com is powered by the global network of 88DB.com, an online classified ad portal, and JobsDB.com, Asia Pacific’s leading job portal.
