Sun Broadband wireless guys checked my connection
Two guys from Sun Broadband Wireless went to our house today to check my complaints about the connection that I’m experiencing.
It turns out that they really do have a problem with the “cell site” (I think that’s what it is called) that is servicing me.
Dale (I hope i got your name right) said that the problem was caused by erratic connection being provided by the “cell site”. His term was “Maraming Butas”. The site was less than 100 meters from where we live. That’s why I can see a full HSDPA reception on the SBW terminal.
To illustrate what he was trying to say, imagine a garden hose within 1 source but 3 connections. However than hose has many holes. So all of us connected in that hose will receive slow supply of water.
To further the anger (ahahha just joking), my neighbor who lives just 12 houses away is getting “flawless” connection because he is getting his connection from a different cell site. Imagine that?
Dale said that they will fix the problem in a weeks time. I’ll be back in Davao on Saturday. hopefully when I return, I won’t get a “normal sun broadband wireless connection” – that is.. slow.
Just to note: my connection today is the best that I’ve had since last September 13, the start of my vacation here in Manila..

thanks for sharing.
When you said best yet since sept. 13, what speed is your connection currently doing?

latency results were less than 500ms and less “request timed out”.
And this was what I was experiencing when i first got my SBW. How bout you?

mine too.. especially during 7pm to 10pm.. its 0kbs to 10kbps, cant even open mails….i hope SUN will do something about it..
but if ucant get a good signal during off peak hours, try this
turn off your firewall on your antivirus, it blocks alot of signal and after that u turn on your windows firewall instead..
you will be surprise to the improvement..almost half..
enjoy..

hi! sir migs, are you from davao po? i was wondering kasi if sun broadband wireless works well, if not better. kasi my mother wants to switch from smartbro to sun broadband. i visited their site na po and may part dun na unlimited access of internet for up to 2mpbs. so i was thinking na it could be better since 1mpbs lang itong plan namin sa smart. pero natatakot ako magswitch kasi nga baka weak yung site ng sun broadband. i’d be happier to hear comments from you, users, po. thanks much. God bless!

sun broadband is not officially usable here in Davao City though there are areas where you can use SBW.
I suggest to stay with Smart Bro muna. And just get a SBW unlimited plan when SUN gives a go signal that we can use it here in Davao.
You might end up just hating sun. You can use Smart share it. they have an unlimited plan. Its tried and tested na here in Davao. Specifically sa may marfori heights area. Fast and reliable.

Hi Migs – I live in Marfori Heights. I have ShareIt since July 2009. Since September 1, I can rarely open any website with ShareIt. July and August it was great. Since then, for 3 months now, it is the worst Internet I have ever had. Smart “customer service” will do nothing to help me. They will only tell me that since I have a contract, I must keep paying, even if it doesn’t work. My suggestion is to forget about ShareIt!

Hi Bob!
Ouch! Really? I remember, you commented in one of my blog post that you were loving smart bro share-it and that you haven’t had problems with it yet…
Maybe they need to fix the cell site near you… just like what sun guys did to enhance my connection..
But those at smart customer service should have already forwarded your complain to their technical team for them to check it.
