Cherry Mobile P1
This tiny mobile phone caught my attention.
This is the Cherry Mobile P1. The size – 96 x 49. its one of the smallest I’ve seen.
Looks cool. Below are its features.
Wow, it even has T9 installed.
Reminds me of the Modu Phone. However, the P1 doesn’t use add-ons to expand its functionality coz its a stand alone phone.
I’m tempted to get one since its only priced at P999.00. Looks like a great gift for kids and kids-at-heart for the holidays.

My yaya of 20 years wants her own cellphone. She finds my hand me downs too complicated. This would be perfect for her as it would be brand new, reasonably priced, simple to use and cute. Fits my budget perfectly and with this price I am willing to throw in the sun Text Unlimited 150 load monthly which will give her unlimited text and 4 hours sun to sun. Bahala na siya sa regular load if she wants to contact other networks.

The phone is super basic without bluetooth even. I am a light user and semi heavy texter. Fully charged phone by Monday 11 am and without turning it off my next charge was Friday morning 7:40 am. –drained by then.
Used it for my sun line. The thing about the apperance though, It looks like a plastic toy made by Fisher Price or Mattel. Friends could not believe it was a real phone. If you want hi- tech looks this is not for you.

If you are not a music person, don’t need a triband phone, just want a basic phone or even a spare. Pick this over the modu.
Small enough to fit your purse or pocket and the price is only Php999 vs. modu’s Php7,999 for Globe prepaid or plan 500. Oh, this is not sim locked either.
If style and prestige is your priority though, get the modu because this phone won’t make you happy.

Hi Migs,
I just want to ask your opinion/comments on the Torque E-100 Mobile Phone. Like ths Cherry Mobile P1, it’s also small plus it has extra features like an FM, alarm, calendar, calculator and a world clock.
I’m interested in this Toque E-100 but maybe you might be able to give me some feedbacks which I would appreciate.

Hi Rick,
I haven’t tested the Torque E100 yet. But one notable difference based from the specs is that the e100 has a larger screen (1.2″) plus its colored. It also has other features but 200 higher than the P1.
Battery life.. no idea yet.

bought one today to use as my sun phone. it’s tiny, about 3 x 2 inches. (btw migs, 96 x 49 refers to the screen size in pixels.) the display is a 3-liner. what bugs me about it is that it doesn’t have predictive/T9!! BOO. have any other P1 users noticed this?? you can switch between pinyin/simplified chinese, uppercase, lowercase, first letter capitalized. that’s it. unless it meant that the T9/predictive is only for the chinese setting? misrepresentation! >:( otherwise m okay with it, got what i wanted, a very cheap, basic, and tiny phone.

hey, my bf and I bought two as an extra phone. So far, so good with it. I would definitely recommend for extra phone but if you want to make it a primary phone I think you have difficulties since it has neither phonebook or message memory meaning it uses only sim memory which would be a bummer if you have a lot of contacts. parang bumalik ka sa 5110 but only smaller. basically same features. backlight is good. THe black one has better look and feel than the colored ones because the black p1 keypad is lit up but the other colored ones, only the screen is lit up yun and na notice ko. about batter life, ok naman siya it takes about two days to discharge. It sometimes has no signal but I think it’s due to the network. It has no sent itemsm, it don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing. One thing I like about it is that, it goes backward to the 5110 style and feel to the phone but it’s polyphonic, yung ringtones nya. The thing is the speaker is not that loud and when I call, it’s hard to hear the person in the background. I give it about 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
It’s very good to accessorize too.

I like the style but I need to check it first. I want to buy one soon. It looks like a calculator, perfect for daily use. Holdapers can’t recognize it. They might think its a calculator but its real.. Great.

If its necessary= i’m not sure. But you see, these phones have been pre-charged. so what i do is I use them until the battery nearly runs out then that’s the time I charge them.

ahhh i see… they said kasi if the phone or the battery is new, it is necessary to charge it for 4 hours.. but me i didn’t charge it for 4 hrs.. i will just it wait to be full about 2 hrs.

haha it’s so cheap how can it possibly have a solar cell. Yeah I’m still on warranty since it hasn’t been a month since I bought it.@_@ I should have this replaced soon when I get the time. Last time I went to the mountains and my phone would not reach full bat. Like I charged it 3x that for 5 hours and still it would not reach full bat and its life only last about 1 to 2 hours.. ugh…when I got back to the city, it was normal again.

By the way the phone has no t9 predictive text and it can’t play music. The phone picture you have there is kind of off beat. the p1 basically went back to the Nokia 5110 days but it has polyphonic ringtones as a default. As for its battery life, on it’s normal days,(when it’s not charging itself or when it does not suddenly go crazy like in my previous post,) the battery life lasts for about 3 days with moderate use.

hi! just got my p1 black its nice for a second phone! handy, light and thin. it doesnt even look like a real phone. my friends cant really believe its real.. battery life would last for 4 days (standby) from full charge with light texting, without charging. i used it really for heavy calling.. it can handle 1 and half hour of continuous conversation.. but hey since its charger connector is mini usb you can charge it via computer.. anyway ringing sound for the party on the other line are somewhat low volume.. no headset.. basically its like 3310 only 3 liner for text… small font.yet amazingly readable..

p1 doesnt even have games.. haha anyway theres minor glitches to thier software wrong grammar hahahaha!!! but hey i loved this phone. using this as my 2nd phone. ito yung no-gf phone ko.. pang chicks lang so if im with her i just put it into silent slip into my pocket she doesnt even notice i have another phone whenever im with her.. i also put fake solar panel.. it is actually only a sticker. now it is look much more of a calculator..

Checked out your Nokia 1208 vs Torque E100 review Migs. Nice! Quite refreshing to see all these small, no-nonsense phones. And judging from the enthusiastic responses here, looks like there’s a real market for these devices. Mukhang maraming nang nananawa sa mga malalaking cellphone na namumutiktik sa features na di naman nagagamit.

That’s what i realized too.. a lot of high end phones are out in the market that provides a lot or features. But people don’t regularly use them. What consumers want is a mobile phone that they can use mainly for 2 things… Text and Call.

when my P1 cherry mobile was charging.. i noticed that the battery icon wasn’t there so what i did is i unplugged the charger then i plugged it again & the battery icon was back.
anyone here experienced the same??

Actually yang P3,900 miniphone na yan ang inalok sa akin nung nasa stall ng Cherry Mobile sa Cyberzone Megamall dahil out of stock sila ng P1. It’s really tiny! (head’s up Migs, you’ll like that one) Pero ang conern nung Cherry Mobile sales person is that sobrang liit nung text sa LCD display, baka di na mabasa ng gurang na pareho ko he he. Tama naman siya.
I think I’ll go with the P1. Added bonus nga para sa akin yung toy-like and plasticky appearance niya. I love the in-your-face implications nito. Sarap ipamukha sa mga ka-opisinang uubos ng 13th month pay sa isang cellphone. Some folks just aren’t that smart.

Yeah, saw that one na.. Its called Cherry Mobile Comet. Its a SUPER SLIM mobile phone. Its like an audio recorder but more. It has a Micro SD card (up to 2GB) and can play videos too. Oh.. it also has bluetooth.

hi guys. i bought my P1 last nov. 2. so far so good…except for this one incident. ayaw nang gumana yung red power/call cancel button. and then when i tried charging it, ayaw na mag-charge!! tas hindi ko ma-off para irestart dahil unresponsive nga yung power button. so i waited for the phone to die from lo-batt. then i tried the power button, and thank god it turned on! then i tried charging it, tas ok na ulit! whew! moral of the story: kung magloko and P1 niyo, try restarting it. pero sana hindi na maulit yung glitch…nakakapraning eh, hard to replace na siya kasi out of stock na sa lahat

hi, guys I’m planning to buy that P1 too..its just that Im confused with the battery thing you are talking and some of the features in the brochure I’m reading right now..It’s having a VGA camera,1.8″ 65K Color TFT LCD,2GB microSD card, mp3\mp4 player,FM radio and dual active sim?..Are these things true?..pls help..thanks a lot..

i just got 1 two days ago and its color green…alot of my officemates are hooked into it…coz its just simple…plain text and call lang…no shananigans…its like living a simple life…but i so love it..daig pa nga nya samsung ko…ahehehehe i was just amazed how simple it is…ahehehehe so far no issues for me.. one thing that amazed me most is the other day when i ran out of juice sa bat i just simply turned it off took the battery off and put it back in, and boom may isa pang bar yung battery niya..by the way im from cebu.

Just bought a Cherry Mobile P2 last night. I did not intend to buy it, but i dont know what got into my mind when i saw it and knew its the last one.. I bought it for 1200 instead of 1290. ahaha.. crazy me, i beg for the sales clerk to sell it to me for 1200 only.. imagine asking for a discount in a mall?? and i was thankful and very happy he did. i was actually thinking of buying a P1. but well.. just added like 200 and got a p2 besides p1 is always out of stock. It has more features than that of p1. Colored display, FM radio, Calendar, Alarm, Calculator, Games,loud Speaker, Phone Memory for messages and for phone books. all in all.. the price is just ok with all its features. when i saw it and tried testing it i was very excited and i find it really cute!! as in super cute!!! it has nokia compatible battery. the BL4C. that’s one think i find it really good.. it can be charged with a USB charger. The package comes with a battery, earphones, charger, a manual and of course the 1year warranty card. its really very easy to use. the volume it not that good but very acceptable. haven’t tried calling yet though.
the bad thing i noticed about it is the annoying sound when it notifies you that a message has been sent and that it has been saved also (it has sent items). I find it annoying since i cant turn it off. i tried all the settings but none worked. i set it on silent mode but the sound is still there. (talking about silent mode but not silent at all). It doesn’t vibrate either(but that’s fine with me.) and the screen. it has a hang time. don’t know if that’s what it is. but there come a point that all the menus got jumbled and the letters are like overlapping. don’t know why and how…. but that’s what it is.. still bearable though. all in all i rate it 4.5! really hate the sound it makes… hopefully it can be turned off…

I just want to share my experienced here on the net and to WARN you to be careful. I bought 3 units of cherry mobile x90 and 4 units of cherry mobile P1 with a man given named himself as ALVIN S. MERCADO with cp number 09154867838. He told me to deposit it at bpi savings bank but because of incomplete account number he suggested to me to send it thru LBC Las Pinas City and send it to GLORIETTA 3 BRANCH, then that’s what I did. He gave me this name JACKIELYN VALDEZ TAM with address 303 Caltaluna Bldg. , Vista De Lago, Quezon City. But then again, with my mistake I put TAM instead of VALDEZ as her middle name. The following day, I fixed my mistake and he gave me another name EMCHIREL CALLET RABUYA with address 612 Boni Ave., Mandaluyong City. The woman got the money amounting in total sum of P19, 255 at LBC mandaluyong branch. After confirming the transactions , ALVIN S. MERCADO gave me a tracking number 101962235217 but when I got the chance to check it on the net, that tracking number was not existing at the very beginning. LBC Las Pinas branch helped me to tracked these people by giving to me the information I needed to be use by an NBI friend of mine. I also found out that the ID they used to get the money was an ID of a student from NEGROS ORIENTAL STATE with 091411 number. But this is more annoying, they used same ID NUMBER with different names, so I guess it is just made from recto. I kept on calling them, BUT the cp number was unreachable already. In short, it was just a bogus and didn’t get my cellphone orders.

I dont know the difference really ng P1 at P1 (i) .. sakin kasi P1 (i) and i’ve read here ung iba walang T9 at saving mode pag magesent ng message? Sakin kasi meron… ung T9 nya is (W eng) ang nakalagay and then if you want to save what u texted, just simply click “Send and Save”.. try to check ung sainyo guys.
Anyways, currently enjoying it, so cute.. people cant help but have a 2nd look..some wont believe it’s really a fone, kasi its like a toy daw, a calcu or an mp3.. iwas sa magnanakaw… haha sweeet ! …

If i’m not mistaken, all equipment have their “usable life”. It depends on the user kung aabot doon or masira agad ang unit.
I’m not sure of the life of this mobile phone. But for me, I change phones every 2-3 years.

Phone code: 0000
manual keypad lock: hold down * for 5 secs.
For ECE’s, this might be interesting: on the home screen, enter this key sequence: *###
You’ll get some phone details and info about the cell site you’re connected to as well as the neighboring cell sites… Beat that, high-end phones!!!

super hina ng baterya ng p1. pagkatapos macharge, 3 hours lang lowbat na. sana nokia na lang binili ko.

tapos nireport ko sa sm north.. dun ko siya binili.. sabi ko ang hina na baterya. sabi nila iba daw yung dapat puntahan kapag ganun. di daw sila ang magpapalit.
grabe. kahit hindi mo siya gamitin at hawakan, kusa siyang namamatay. minsan kahit hindi lowbat, tapos titingnan mo siya, ayun, wala nang buhay. bigla na lang namamatay. .. kahit pa hindi nabagsak or something.
the nice thing about this phone though is that you can use it anywhere without any fear of it being snatched. mukang laruan lang kasi.
ok na yung phone sana. sana lang mas matagal yung battery life.
tsaka walang spare battery silang binebenta. i asked for one kasi ayaw din lang nman nila palitan e. wla daw ganun. so pag pumalya yung p1, e di wala na rin. kelangan na bumili ng bago? (kung bibili pa ng bago diba.)

buying stuff is a game of chance. my P1 has a 24 hour battery life (I might be exaggerating here, but thats because i usually recharger after the battery’s dead every other 2 days). Its weird actually, I can get long battery life hours while I’m using it more (calling/texting), than just letting it go on idle. It even drains itself overnight if the place you’re staying does not have a service/signal. :]

i dont think so migz, coz it displays the 8888 message,telling me about ther promo…bt when someone will txt me i cant read there message,all i do is go to edit or forward messge to read it..

You can solve your problem by going to the nearest service center. If you just bought it, then it should still have a warranty.
My p1 and the p1 ng mga kakilala ko are still ok.

talaga bang mabagal magtext dito? yung tipong hihintain mo pa bumalik ung | bago mkatype ng isa pang letter sa parehas na number? halimbawa susulat mo “back” pagkatype mo ng b hihintayin mo pa ung | bago maitype ung a? ganon kasi ung akin e.

cheap yet great phone, it looks like a pocket calculator
, easy to use, has long battery life. though, it’s limited for texting and calls, dunno if it has it’s own memory for messages and contact number.

it’s so simple. it is just for call and text plus calculator and calendar. muka pang calculator, people will amaze if they haven’t seen one! aakalain nila calculator (kahit ako). yun nga lang madali malowbat. mine only lasts for 24hrs.(stand-by) pero pag ginagamit, light texts and calls 12hrs lang (approximately 50 txts plus 3 mins. call), kaya kailangan i-charge agad. it has no vibration.:))
