Along with my Globe Digital Tribe Award was a Globe Tattoo broadband Internet Stick. I was talking to one of the organizers of the Philippine Blog Awards asking him if they will be giving out Globe Tattoos during the event. He said yes. I was one of those hoping to get one.

I have a postpaid and a prepaid plan from Globe and I use either to access the internet via Globe 3G. But what I like about using the internet stick is that it gets its own power from the laptop and that I don’t need to plug it to a power outlet.

Plus the fact that it seems to be faster than Globe 3G. Or maybe they’re just the same. However, with using your phone with your Globe 3G SIM, you first need to convert the KB browsing to Time based browsing or else, expect a bill for your prepaid plan with thousand of pesos more than what you usually pay. But internet usage via your Globe Tattoo SIM by default is TIME-BASED. No need to worry about over spending on internet connection charges. Nice huh?

I said a while ago that its better than the usual phone + Globe 3G. Here’s one recent experience, The place where I was staying in Cagayan de Oro City was enclosed… it didn’t have any windows.. not even an exhaust fan inside the rest room. I was on the 3rd floor and Wi-Fi was only available at the lobby. I had a 3G signal on my phone but I could only see two bars on the signal indicator. So I decided to try out the Globe Tattoo. Plugged it on my Laptop, did a quick set-up  and hit the connect button.

Surprisingly, I had a fast and stable connection. I was able to check my mails, read feeds on my google feed reader, chat, micro-blog, download a file, and watch live streams! Let me repeat that.. watch live streams.. so yes it was fast.

But, it really depends on the area. But you can try changing the network settings to make your globe tattoo faster. From the Globe Tattoo Connection Menu, click on Tools->Options->Network. By default, its on WCDMA preferred. Try other choices and see what connection is best for your location.

Another thing that I like is the skins or designs you can choose from. I got the White Techie. But there are Globe Tattoo Broadband New Skins available.
