Globe contracted NESIC Philippines to see which between Smart Broadband and Globe Broadband is the fastest broadband provider…
The measurements are in Kbps, which means kilo-bits per second, so the numbers up there represent the amount per thousand bits being sent per second. A bit is the most basic measurement of data. The blue colored fonts represent the higher value in each test.
The Local FTP Download test used a 12MB file, which is about the size of three or four 3-minute MP3s with a bit rate of 128kbps. The International Download file size from download.com is 6MB, which is about the size of a really packed PowerPoint presentation or two MP3 files.
The speed test was executed via Speedtest, which is a website dedicated to measuring a connection’s true Internet speed by three key measurements- Download (the speed at which data is sent from the web to you computer), Upload (the speed at which data is sent from your computer to the web) and Ping Latency (the speed at which for a tiny piece of data is sent from your computer to the Internet and back).
Well, I was able to use Globe Tattoo broadband when I was in Cagayan de Oro and it gave me good results.
Oh wait, we were using both Smart Bro and Globe Tattoo during the Mindanao Bloggers summit and both were giving good connection.
But here’s what I’ll do… I’ll go to the city and test these two competing products and see for myself which is fastest where.. (Note: I’m in Mindanao)

smartbro is faster than globe tattoo in municipal areas in mindanao. gprs lang ang globe while 3G/HSDPA naman sa smart.
Globe may give you some good numbers on SPEEDTEST but in realtime – signal issues and connection stability (In Manila) are the major letdowns.
Not surprising that many globe tattoo dongle’s are now ditched from being traded on TPC.
globe broadband is the worst internet connection on earth, so dont ever try it!
i have experienced 5 days without signal, gosh!
so if you want to feel like you’re in hell already try their poor service! i’ll be switching to other network soon!
what you’ll get are stupid customer service and technicians!
Smart Bro is much faster here in my area than globe tried tattoo prepaid also wimax both are slow. waste of money so after 1 yr lock in period with wimax pina disconnect ko na then switch to smart bro speed is 1.7mbps.
@glen same here. I can even reach up to 4mbps pag madaling araw na sa smart. Mas stable pa ang connection unlike sa globe na lagi nawawalan ng signal
