Was browsing the web today when I saw MTV Emerge and got curious with it. It turns out that MTV Emerge is a project that aims to look out for Fresh and talented Filipinos who has passion for music.

And we’re not talking about bands here.. you can be a solo artist, a duo, trio or a group with any number of members any any genre (indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists, DJs, etc).

There are now more than 1,800 entries on MTV Emerge. And its time to VOTE for who you think deserves to grab a 1 year contract from Jeepney Music and of course, be featured in MTV – as one of the partners in this endeavor -

The seven grand winners of MTV Emerge will win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship underApl.de.Ap. The contract includes artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 – 6 songs….

What surprised me is that its an MTV, Jeepney Music, and the Department of Toursim collaboration… Yes, DOT. And what does the tourism department got to do with it? Well, since music is global…. the three collaborators would like to showcase the pinoy talent all over the world.

…and a strategic marketing plan for the signed artists to break into both the Philippines and international markets.

WOOT! Global! So whoever will be chosen will really have to be good in their craft!.

So head out to MTV Emerge website and start voting for who you think is the next big thing in the music scene! Make sure to vote before November 20. And winners will be announced at a live event on November 27.

I listened/viewed more than 20 entries… Already voted for 4 entries:

First is Torpe from A.I.P. Dela Cruz. I Like the melody of the song. Like something that you’d put on a teen flick.

Second is an entry from Ina Burton, Hold On. Just listen to her voice! Man its soooooooooooo coool! Plus the lyrics of the song… hold on.. hold on.. hold on… hold on to me….

Third is an RnB song from Zion, Don’t leave me (Stay). I’m a big fan or RnB music!

Fourth is Makes me love you. Lyrics is good and the song as a whole.. so its not surprising that it now have more than 6,000 votes.

Tried to find a band that fits my “band taste” or rock music taste if that’s what you call it… but didn’t find any.
