There was nothing surprising about Pres. Noynoy Aquino flip-flopping on his stand on Filipino first and transparency. This kind of political stunt is nonetheless inevitable and quite frankly expected from a prematurely vindicated president who goes around devoting much of his time on media gimmicks. Like a true TRAPO, the revered P-Noy went back to his old ways – his political wellbeing first above all else. But can you really blame him? He already did the “bossy” president type as he ignored the calls of Hong Kong Official Donald Tsang during the Quirino bloodbath debacle shrugging it off as beyond calls of protocol, but what did it brought him? Needless to say, he got himself in the middle of one disappointing scenario to another. This became a public spectacle that dragged his entire administration into humiliation and finally even to the extent of “stupidity disclosed upfront”. Thus, P-Noy softening on his former stand and bending to Hong Kong officials using the leverage of giving them the exclusivity to the investigation result proves a “damage control” mechanism.
But just like what P-Noy does in consistency, his timing and effort is again uncalled for or rather unthought-of. This grand plan of appeasing the ire Hong Kong government, which we all know was practically his own doing and brought about by his negligence; include the part where Filipinos have to swallow political ambiguity. The public, which he formerly calls as his “boss”, had to be kept in the dark for a bit longer on the result of the Quirino hostage taking inquest. P-Noy’s media minions call it a display of deference to the HK government, given the administration’s former insults and laxity. In the first place, this was a caboodle P-Noy confidently brought upon his administration. Why on earth would he make amends at the people’s expense?
Why a matter of public interest such as this should be withheld for the benefit of a president who irresponsibly acted as high and mighty during a situation he admitted to have let pass for reasons that he was merely too pre-occupied on something else. During the 11-hour hostage drama that unfolded on television live streams where police negotiations should have been made under discriminate secrecy as a matter of SOP, P-Noy claimed he was simply making a point towards what he vowed to be as “transparent” ruling. Ironically, this administration has gotten away with it by charging people’s contest towards the Philippine press’ insensitivity. Back then, the press was the one pushed to the stake of ridicule alongside officials of the Manila Police District (MPD). Until now, this administration apparently enjoys such scapegoats.
P-Noy is taking us all for a ride. His well-budgeted PR is pushing us to accept this obvious practice of “unreasonable jettisoning” and corruption of Filipino’s basic rights as politically proper. Are we as gullible as the P-Noy administration thinks? Should we turn a deaf ear on this communal insult? If we allow ourselves to be tossed around in ways that would be comfortable for this president then this is far from the likes of democracy. Better yet, P-Noy should drop his act of being the servant president. This portrayal of putting public welfare and rights a top priority above his political will is by far an irritating façade and a poorly-written script of P-Noy’s administration. If this administration is willing to take us for granted to put an icing on his name then I cannot help but imagine at how far he will go on blatantly abusing his vested authority.

I really do not hope that the hackers gains control over the PS3 machines! With 50 million multicore CPU’s at their disposal, they could wreak havoc !
