Meet my latest gadget… the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570
It is one of the latest android phone from Samsung and my second Samsung Phone – my first Sasmung phone is the Samsung E2152 dual sim phone.
So why did I buy a new phone again? Well, I need to have a tool that would let me check my mails on the go. Mails from my personal accounts (yes with S) and also from my company email account. And i found out that android phones can do both (maybe based on what OS version).
Why the Samsung Galaxy Mini? It was not an easy choice. I had been looking for a phone since January. I trimmed it down to 4 phones. With the mini, the price was a convincing factor – only 10k +++ (6 months to pay using my credit card). And the first time I saw it from the shelves of mobile phone sellers, I had my eyes on its 3.2” capacitive touchscreen. Biggie screen… And of course, the specs and features.
However, when I got my hands on it, I had second thoughts. The casing was plastic, and it felt like it would break easily. But don’t be fooled by the cover. Its really what’s on the inside and what it can do (plus the low price) that you should take a look at (and enjoy).
When I was browsing around for specs, i took note of the screen display, QVGA 256K colors, 240 x 320 pixels. Initially i didn’t intended to use the phone as an entertainment device. But hey, it gives out good view of pictures on my online albums and on facebook. So BIG smile on my face.
I won’t elaborate much on the android features – for those of you who have already used a mobile phone running on android OS, you know what these are. But for those who are not familiar with it… its packed with a lot of Google stuff and more! You can go to the android market place where you can find tons of applications which will make your android experience memorable – there are a lot of free great ones.
Customizing the phone was such a breeze… Setting up my 3 main email accounts didn’t even take 20 minutes. 2 email accounts from google and 1 account manually set up under microsoft exchange. Icons on the home screen and menu screens where flying to my chosen locations.
However, one let down is the battery, since i’m checking out all of what it can do, downloading stuff, playing youtube and other videos, I’m using the battery heavily. And so I’m forced to charge the phone everyday.
