The Brazilian government has passed a law that enables employees to claim overtime payments if they check emails when out of work hours.
The law that was approved by President Dilma Rousseff, says that company emails to workers are equivalent to orders given directly to the employee.
Good news for Brazilians! Phone/gadget makers and sellers might see a rise in sales in Brazil this year.
Could this also happen here in the Philippines? Passing a similar law.. NOPE.. (asa ka pa!). But Companies can make a policy to this effect. Though some Pinoys I know, extend their working time out of the four corners of the office without claiming any OT. Management usually view them as hardworking employees.
