Facebook added 2 new icons in its recent update. Something most users are not liking.

“Who needs 2 more icons on the home screen of your gadget?” This is the general sentiment of users in forums and some blogs with regards to the addition of 2 new icons during the latest update of the  Facebook app.

During the update, it did not inform the user that it will be adding 2 new icons:

I’m thinking that this is in line with theiracquisition of Instagram. We might see an instagram integration later on. Where the Camera facebook app is just a “test” for future integration.

Though I don’t quite get it why they had to put another Facebook messenger app when they already have a stand alone Facebook Messenger. Anyways, the new one is better.

Well, a work around to hide this 2 new icons is to group them together – ICS and iOS can do this, or install another app – a launcher – to hide the icons.

But another problem here is that there will now be 3 Facebook services running on the background instead of just one (the main app). Which means less battery life.

Aside from these, the update also brings bug fixes and a faster Facebook experience for mobile and tablet users.
