It looks like SMART is in the process of merging their network/base stations with SUN. As one SMART user tweeted that she’s seeing the network name “SUN” in her SMART powered sim. I also experienced this (seeing the smart logo/name) when Smart  acquired Red Mobile.

Implementing LTE technology is not easy and definitely not cheap.PLDT/Smart have invested PHP67.1 billion (USD1.5 billion) for their network modernization project to cater for LTE and future mobile technologies as well.
